Quantum Credit Union has been awarded the Juntos Avanzamos designation, recognizing the institution for its efforts in serving the Hispanic community. Awarded by Inclusiv – a nationally recognized nonprofit association focused on helping disenfranchised communities – the designation means Together We Advance. Quantum is the first credit union in Kansas to be named a Juntos Avanzamos partner because of the advances it has made in serving and empowering Hispanic consumers, a growing demographic that remains largely underserved and underbanked.

“Our people-helping-people mission has helped bridge the gap for a large segment of our community that were either excluded from traditional financial services or where there was a low trust-factor,” says Chuck Bullock, President. “We are very pleased with the progress we’ve made in meeting the needs of this important community.”

To earn the Juntos Avanzamos accreditation a credit union must complete an extensive application process and demonstrate how they serve Spanish-speaking people through inclusive underwriting policies for lending, financial education, affordable products, and loan services. Quantum Credit Union is one of the only institutions in their community that can provide ITIN loans and financial services.

Gary Torres, VP here at Quantum Credit Union, says, “The Wichita area boasts a vibrant Hispanic-Latino community, with estimations placing the population at over 72,786 individuals within Wichita itself and 82,630 across Sedgwick County. This constitutes roughly 15% of the entire Sedgwick County population.”

“At Quantum Credit Union, inclusivity is paramount. We've established an environment that welcomes diverse backgrounds, accommodating alternate forms of identification including passports and the Matriculate Consular card, among others. Upholding our commitment to treating all our members with the utmost dignity and respect, we've also ensured that Spanish-speaking staff are available at both of our Wichita locations. This allows us to cater effectively to the needs of our Hispanic members.”

“Quantum Credit Union's connection to the Hispanic community runs deep. We actively participate as a member of the board of directors of the Wichita Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, solidifying our dedication to this community. Furthermore, we proudly lend our support through volunteering and involvement in various Hispanic community events, such as the annual Día de los Muertos celebration.”

On September 15th, we hosted the Quantum Credit Union’s Junto Avanzamos Proclamation Event.
It was a great way to help kick off Hispanic Heritage Month and get to spend time with our community and city partners. We had food, coffee, great guest speakers, and even got the big check out for a donation to the Kansas Hispanic Education & Development Foundation (KHEDF).

Guest speakers included Rene Vargas Martinez, the director of Inclusiv, members of the Wichita Hispanic Chamber, the Wichita Chamber of Commerce, The United Way of the Plains, and a few of our Quantum Members.
